Finnish cello based band Apocalyptica are almost finished with their new studio album. This month the band will shoot a video for their single to be released in January 2003. The album will be released in February and when it comes to touring the band is planning on heading for Germany in February and then the whole of Europe in March.

In an interview with http://www.wallsoffire.de/ main composer Eicca Toppinen had this to say about the upcoming album, and the tour:

"I think the next album is not going to be so dark. The songs are more melodic, with better melody lines... well, maybe not better, but it's still strong, very emotional. The compositions have some more positive colours in the music than before."

"So far it looks like there will be no covers at all. There are songs written by me, and also Perttu, the youngest member of the band, will probably write some. It will be only our own stuff. Of course, it might happen that during the session we suddenly feel that we want to do a cover, but not at the moment."

"Our first tour will begin in the first half of February 2003. In the end of February we'll have a German tour, and then, maybe in March, we'll tour the rest of Europe. It's better to concentrate on that than to play live, because if you have just one or two shows it doesn't make sense, it's bad for the work because you can't fully concentrate on it, that's why we prefer going on tour, because then you go for it 100%."
