Apocalyptica - ?

Listening to "Reflections" -- this is the first time I'm hearing this band. Although it's a little cheesy (instrumental rock with cellos), I have to admit, it's pretty fuckin' good.

I should have hired these guys for my wedding, instead I had a 4 string quartet playing Pachelbel and Bach. What a sucker!

Some of their stuff is a little bit slow, but a lot of it is really really great! Unfortanutly I've only heard about one album worth of songs. If I am not mistaken, they are going to play some gigs here in the USA in the not-so-distant future. I may have to check that out...

I've only bothered to check that Metallica stuff they did, since... Well, I'm a Metallica fanboy... Maybe I'll get around to checking out their other stuff as well, some day.

I saw them live the other week when my girlfriend interviewed them. Very good show. They did a "metal" cello version of Greig's "Hall of the mountain king". I also have "Metallica By Four Cellos", not as good as their new stuff, if you're not a Metallica fan

I have Reflections and enjoy it. I listened to samples of their new one and I'm unsure about it. It has vocals now, and feels a lot more radio-friendly. Might just be my initial perception.

I can appreciate their talents, but still, its a gimmick. and short of Wierd Al Yankovic, gimmicks fade away once their novelty wanes. It's clear they're aware of that, as they're attempting to add new elements.
