heres a little review of my trip
At around 2:30 we head out for Old Bridge, New Jersey. We stop at a truck stop... but I dont go in... instead, i stay in the car and put on some Arch Enemy to prep my parents . We are heading up, and notice that we are near Asbury Park. I was slightly surprised because it took us longer to get to Asbury Park than it did to Old Bridge. Nevertheless, we spot a music store and go in it. To my right, i spot a rack of BC Rich guitars. Just a collection of Warlocks and a Beast. I walk around the rack and a guy is playin a guitar with a saxaphone synth. NIIIICE pedal. I walk over to the acoustic guitar rack and play some out of tune guitars. I continue to search around and i see the EXACT BC Rich Beast that ive been dreaming about
my jaw hit the floor when i saw it. i picked it up, plugged the bitch in, and played Raining Blood... and it was only $300... and i didnt get it . anyway, we leave the store and head to a restaurant across from the Birch Hill Entertainment Complex. i got Fettuccini Alfredo... AND IT SUCKED! Dont get me wrong, i like fettuccini alfredo, but this one sucked! anyway, we head over to the Birch Hill and stand outside for a bit (they wouldnt let us in yet lol). and these 3 guys mention one word... "Nevermore". of course i but my way into the conversation. "How long you guys been into Nevermore?" one guy says "2 years" but still didnt know which band member Van Williams was. another guy said a few years, and that they saw him there twice.. and Warrel asked him where a liquor store was, and WD just walked down the road Jeff Loomis was also seen playing football anyway, they let us in, and we got our willcall tickets. i jumped to the bathroom and set up my minidisk recorder. i scaled the steps... and what do i see? THE smallest place EVER to have a concert.the stage is relatively small, theres 3 little levels , about one step higher than the last level. the little "level" above the floor level (obviously the pit level) had a long table across it with a sound board in the middle.needless to say, i fell lin love with this place! they didnt pat you down, so if Nevermore goes there again, im fucking video taping it. the thing about security, they stand around on tables and monitor the mosh pit, if they see stuff getting out of hand, they LEAP into the mosh pit, put an arm aroudn the guy's throat (and their arms are fucking HUGE!), and drag him out of the venue with 3 seconds. i fucking loved it!
Comatose:
SUCKED... one screech vocalist, one death vocalist, one alright-guitarist, one generic bassist, and one fucking awesome drummer!
(2/10) why 2? the drummer
Sworn Enemy:
I liked this band, only a medium sized repetative tapping solo, but other than that, it was good.
(6/10) lack of guitar solos ruined it
God Forbid:
what can i say? they fucking ruled! i bootlegged it. can any of you help me naming the songs they played if i sent you the concert? they played a lot of new stuff
(10/10) no explanation needed
Arch Enemy:
took a little bit for them to get to the stage. Angela was hot as usual, and im fucking scared of her... a female with that kind of growl means business! same for this bootleg as the God Forbid one. i dont know the names of their songs, can someone help me out here?
*see god forbid*
i got my fucking $12 worth, and this ranks up there with the last slayer show i went to. this concert and the slayer show are competing for best concert ever attended!
