Arch Enemy -Rise of the Tyrant

I'm listening to it right now. I agree it sounds alot better than the previous albums. The ideas are fresh and the songs are a good mix of ferocious songs and slower melodic pieces. But I keep on hearing this beeping noise through out the album, is that really part of the music or is it just something wrong on my end?

neither

Arch Enemy do not suck and are not bad and at the sametime not great either. I always think with some bands if there was just this extra ten percent of effort they could be great or more where I would buy an album.

the album really has a dark feel to it - like it would be rated R.....possibly because the melodies aren't really that traditional or friendly...they're pretty twisted actually.

I might check this out because I am really into weird darker twisted harmonies/melodies. Bloodbath, old katatonia,Paradise Lost and Amorphis for example have some really dark twisted melodies. I generally hate bands that have friendly/flowery harmonies and generally they only sound good if it's Iron Maiden.

I relistened to the album and maybe its the alcohol and plus midnight but it's a great cd far better than their last two cds.

Great guitar work and these songs actually have depth to them. I also like the production a lot despite the promo sound.

Yeah that beeping is enough to avoid listening to it fully.
I agree the songs have more depth than Doomsday and reason being is Michael Amott is back. Might just have to go see them on tour w/ Machine Head this fall now...

Well, I downloaded the de-watermarked promo that someone fixed up. It's far from perfect but it is listenable, but if you listen closely you can tell where the beeping was "removed," or less audible if you want to say that.

It's a great album, Vocal wise, Angela has made a big improvement, the vocals are alot more brutal then what I expected it to be, I'll defanitly be buying this

Michael never left, it was Chris, his brother, who quit. He was also present during the writing and recording of Doomsday Machine. Personally the album has yet to grow on me, but I'll buy it when it comes out because the beeping annoys the living fuck out of me.

^ Really? Then you probably downloaded the de-watermarked promo. If you listen closely you will hear distortion affecting the sound where the beeping was previously. However, there still is a couple beeps on the album during the more silent parts because if he was to attempt to remove the beeping there, that particular part would probably be silenced out completely.
