stupid question ahead:

so i'm signing up for a gym membership tomorrow (has to be tomorrow since their membership fee is going up on feb 1st) and i don't wanna listen to the pop radio stations or MTV channels they play but don't have enough money (or competence) for an mp3 player ... so, in anyone's experience, how well do anti-skip cd players work when you listen to them while on a treadmill, bike, etc?

don't recall if the last one i had was anti-skip or not, but i'd be on the treadmill and start running and it wouldn't hold up.

They usually don't work. On a bike you can normally put it on display and it stays static, ergo problem solved. On a treadmill it usually doesn't work.

MP3 is the way to go. 512MB players are SO cheap it's ridiculous.

They don't work that well. If you have a place to set it while you're on the treadmill, bike, etc. it will be fine, but then you have to worry about not turning your head and yanking it onto the floor.

Mp3 players are so cheap nowadays, I think even creative has a 1gig model around $30, so no doubt you can get a lesser brand/size for even lower.

This whole name/mind sharing thing is pretty crazy.

Yes you can used a burned CD to make mp3s.

With the caveat being that if you originally burned the CD from mp3s then copying them back to mp3s again will stink up the quality. But you may not notice or care.

With the old CD players, I bought a extension for my headphones, and just put the CD player either on the treadmill or in my bag beside the treadmill.

I still do the same thing with my MP3 player, just because I dislike the weight of it on me when running.
