Holy shit! I just started watching the documentary about Journey on Netflix and this guy's name came up. I hadn't kept up with what Journey had been up to since the 80s, but I knew that Steve Perry was their vocalist and that he definitely wasn't from the Phillipenes. So I decided to check out some of Arenel's performances, expecting to hear something obviously good...but not this good. You all know the Ripper Owens story, but he simply emulated Halford pretty well. This guy does more than simply emulate Perry.



Sorry if this is old news, but I'm sure not everyone knew about this.

Yeah Arnel Pineda is a fantastic vocalist and does Steve Perry justice really well. I've always liked what he did with his spot in Journey.

 

[Talking Backwards]

What makes him stand out even more is his where he's from and how his life was growing up. It's like something out of a fantasy movie or fairy tale book.
