Check it out here.

So I'm working on a mix and it generally seems a good idea to get some input and advice from you guys.

I guess I would describe the genre as metalcore. Some high school kids I recently recorded.

Please point out anything you think needs fixing.

One thing I'm having trouble with is when the sub drops come in, they end up distorting the mix a bit. Mainly noticeable on the cymbals. I'm not sure what to do. They're not "in your face" but when they go to around 30hz things get funky.

Thanks!

Guitars were ESP LTD's with EMG 81s into TS7r, into 6505+ Lead Channel (I think), into Avatar 4x12 with V30's and miced with a 57 where the cap meets the cone. Double tracked.

Was rushed on getting the guitar tone and it ended up being a little dark and bass heavy. EQed +2 to 3db in the above the 1k area and -2db in the 100 to 500 area. Multiband comp keeping everything under 300 in check and Gband set to 60 and 12k.

Bass was some ESP LTD model that I think had passive pickups and was played finger style. I was hoping to put some dirt on it to beef up the guitar sound, but the way it was played made it sound really gross at times.

I tried something different with the bass and sent the low passed part (350) of the DI to be squashed to hell and sent the hi passed part to Ampeg SVX set to SVT-4 Pro, compressed it, and then EQed some cuts and hi passed at 80 on the summed bass track.

I got SVX fairly cheap, but I'm wondering if I should give AcmeBarGig's BIG or something else a go.

Listened to the updated version and the main thing for me is that the guitars are a little too dark like you said. I see what you mean about the sub drops too, maybe just try another sample?
