Atheos (brutal death metal) - input to final mix

Hi guys,

Would really appreciate your views on this preliminary mix of my project's latest song!

As you can hear, the song is crowded in the low end/low mid region. I find it quite challenging to maintain the brutality, especially of the guitars, and yet achieve decent separation using the EQ.

Ideas on how to improve this shit would be very highly appreciated!

Bass sounds like it has a bit too much low end in it, are you high passing the bass at all? The low end relationship between guitars and bass is 100% of what makes guitars sound fat. Bass is a bit loud I'd say, and the low end of the kick seems to not have any room to be punchy. Is your bass one track or are you splitting it into separate frequency ranges?

Thanks for valuable comments! Tried to lower the levels of the two bass tracks slightly (there are two tracks with separate frequency ranges; low vs. high/distorted) and also adjusted the high pass filter of the low track, to about 60 Hz:
