hah that IS good! ted rall is alternately idiotic and brilliant.
the cnn.com video is pay-to-play...i'll check bbc. i'm reading the transcript now, which i love with bush speeches, because he has great writers and you can pretend it's not him for a while. i'm like WOW this is cool! he's talking about fixing AIDS! and...wait...why is he boasting about tax cuts helping the economy? gah!
but there are some REALLY good lines in there--kudos, writers. like when he's seguing from North Korea to Iraq, briefly passed over but clearly intended to be remembered:
Our nation and the world must learn the lessons of the Korean Peninsula and not allow an even greater threat to rise up in Iraq. A brutal dictator, with a history of reckless aggression, with ties to terrorism, with great potential wealth will not be permitted to dominate a vital region and threaten the United States.
previously, the Administration has been implying that the reason the US is going after iraq and not north korea is that iraq is a greater threat. that's not true, and never has been. but it IS true that iraq will be easier to deal with because it's weaker, and that one day it COULD be as great a threat as north korea. so that's a reversal on the administration's part! and it answers the Big Question of "why iraq, now" that everyone's been asking.
