hey guys,

The clip of mine that i've posted is 'the standard' in australian hard rock, sounds kind of lifeless and a bit dead. That's how all bands here are mixed and sound.

What needs to be done to this to get it sounding more 3D, bigger, crispier etc.

I'm starting to think i need to get an american producer to do the final mix because no one here seems to be able to get 'that' sound

here's the clip

Your feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

thanks guys

much more hifi-ish i guess

everything out of the US sounds cleaner, bigger, punchier etc..

Dark New Day's album/sound is heading more towards what i'm after

i think the mastering compression is alittle too much.

when i think of "american sounding" i think of that modern rock nickelback(i know they're canadians), creed, etc.

i think the vocals on your track are alittle too wet, and they could stand to use some extra sweetening. also the low end doesn't feel quite big enough. I think you definately have the songwriting down though.

hell you could always try scooping the guitars a bit...

thanks for the help mate

yer the nickelback/creed kind of production is more where i want to go

i agree it lacks low end thump

the thing is, nearly ALL bands over here are sounding like this on tape..
Everything was recorded in very well. it's just the mixing that's suffering

what needs to be done to get a bigger low end and more of the sound i'm after?
is it more in the mastering?

cheers
