Australian People...

This may sound stupid but to me, it's very strange to have so much Australian (or even any Non-European) people listening to Opeth or any European metal since it sounds very...European. I'm not saying this is bad, what I want to state is that this is really COOL! Anyway, I think the same happens in Europe with American Music (Nu-Metal, )so I'm the one being an asshole here, sorry!

australia is cool

but yeh we only recently are starting to get our on music industry i guess, i mean theres still very few well known australian bands that actually last for any length of time (im talking commercial music here), so we tend to grow up listening to primarily stuff from other countries, so its not weird at all that we listen to opeth. Although i guess it is a bit weird because mainly we're becoming americanised in pretty much everything.

metal in australia is alive and well though ,and we have quitea few good bands but still foreign metal makes up most of any metal CD collection that ive seen round here.

Well I actually never go out of my way to take note of where a band I'm listening to comes from, unless they're really good...... Maybe that's got something to do with why you find 'so many' Aussies on boards like this..... We only listen to 'what's good'

Ummm so, can anyone list any Aussie metal bands besides Alchemist (All I can think of at the moment)... I think Samael were Australian.....maybe....

I live in Brisbane and was wondering (if anyone actually lives in Brisbane but I'm sure ive seen people walking around) where do you people buy Cds.

Of course HMV don't even have Opeth so I had to order their Cds and wait about a month for it to arrive. And I've been waiting for at least three fucking months for Blind Guardians Imaginations from the Other Side.

So is there any place that has this kind of stuff on the shelf where i can just walk in and pick it up?

Check out Skinny's and Rockinghorse in Brisbane City...

They're both just off queen-street mall. Skinny's stocks more obscure and death-metal stuff, some pretty good shirts occasionally too.

Hey! My brother just tried to get a job in a Skinny's.... small world. He lives down in brissie as well and knows the good stores, when I talk to him next I'll let you know if their are any other good stores, but the 2 listed are the only ones my bro has ever mentioned......
