Australian People...

Hey speaking of Mortification... a friend of mine was at her uncles wedding a few weeks ago and was sitting next to a guy who she started chatting to, mainly about music. Anyway it turned out to be the Mortification guitarist and, not being into metal in a big way, my friend hadn't actually heard of them. Next i spoke to her she told me about the guy and said he was " in a band called mort-a-fa-cation". Pointless story but pretty cool.

There is a fair bit of good Aus metal around but i listen to a lot of European metal too.
 
Psycroptic, no 'h'...

they are damn good musicians in that band, not exactly my style, but just thought should spell it correctly in case anyone was thinking of checking out some of these australian bands. (Dont want the boys in psycroptic to miss out! tasmanian bands need support!)

I'm not into the australian scene much..

I'm yet to see a band from australia that I really like..

The thing is, every australian metal band is SOOOOO unique..

Alchemist, the guitar style is just nuts, and his voice goes higher than danni fagot filths.

Damaged are (or were) kinda like Nile and spiral architect crossed, just not quite as good, and no power vocals, just very very fast growls.. There new AMERICAN vocalist is ass though..

Segression is australia's answer to Limp Biskit, and Superheist is our answer to Linkin Park..

Except in both cases, they CAN ACTUALLY PLAY MUSIC>.

Abremilin.... I LOVE GORE.. well, I don't really, but Fucking stab wounds is a great thing to sing about, and though the vocalist has a skinny face, he has a sexy xhest, and a DEEP voice..

But every band in australia is justy soo unique, so original.. it's good..

But This knowledge is all about 2 years old, because I haven't been paying attention to the aussie metal scene I spose...

Maybe it's time I get back into it..
 
Brisbane YAY!
Skinny's, JB, Rockinghorse...I think everyon'e mentioned most of them. Also try Sanity, amazingly, they didnt have some bad stuff first time I went t here. Since then they've cut down a bit on the metal section though. Record Exchange on Adelaide St. too, athough they are pretty damn expensive for 2nd hand stuff.
I usually wander into Skinny's and JB a fair bit when I have to waste time in town.

I wouldn't really say Seg is like Bimb Lizkit, as they are nowhere near as commercial, and they actually are heavy.. it's not "rap, rap and more rap on top of the same shitty riff for each song". And Superheist...er..Pinkin Lark... gyah... Nothing can be as bad as Pinkin Lark...

My housemate grew up in Ballarat.

But Melbourne takes the crown my friends!!! ;)

I'd love to travel up to Brisbane one day and buy some c.ds, hang out etc. I've never been to Queensland at all!

We still haven't had our first 30c day in Melbourne which is a record first. It's been raining non stop.

Even Christmas day, which is supposed to be hot and sunny; it actually hailed at my parents place where I was spending the day...

Not that it has anything to do with music.. but you know....

I recently found an Australian melodic blackish deathish metal band hailing from perth...
Their called Pathogen.. VERY VERY fucking good..
