Is it just me, or is this the GREATEST SYMPY X TRACK EVER! I was blown away by the composition. All of the elements blend together in perfect harmony. God! I even sync'd it up with a Fantasia 2000 segment (the one with the spirit of nature and the volcanic beast). With a little 15 sec skip in the video portion towards the middle, it fit perfectly! But i digress. I just wanted to post my position on this song and ask for others' thoughts.

It definitely is a very great track. It sounds a little bit more like I'd expect a Dream Theater song to sound though instead of a Symphony X song. The composition just seems more in the style of Dream Theater. Obviously, Russell Allen does a much better job than James Labrie could ever do.

It's my favorite track on the Odyssey and probably one of my top 5 songs by the band ever. The keyboard work is among some of the best I have ever heard, the whole song is amazing.

Amazing song, my second favourite on Odyssey.

Odyssey>Awakenings>Accolade 2>King of Terrors>Inferno>The Turning>Incantations of the Apprentice>Wicked

(note: this is not saying Wicked is a bad song [lets face it that guitar solo KILLS])

Anyone who says Symphony X lacks emotion must listen to Awakenings...that song gives me chills every time, and features one of the greatest key solos I have ever heard.

Who would ever say such a stupid thing about Symphony X?

I agree with everyone... "Awakenings" is truly magical. From Pinella's staggering highlights... to the monstrous chorus that reminds me a bit of Kansas... this song is a classic for the ages.
