Nice song, but makes feel defa vu of something.
But Odyssey is better, and The Wicked is better.

... and King of Terrors is better. The others are not.

I agree with everyone... "Awakenings" is truly magical. From Pinella's staggering highlights... to the monstrous chorus that reminds me a bit of Kansas... this song is a classic for the ages.

Beleive it or not there are people that say that syx lacks emotion, mostly because they hear Michael play those blindingly fast solos

I have yet to hear ANY band that projects emotion like Symphony X. Romeo's heart and soul are in every note he plays, fast or slow. If anyone is missing this, they are missing something very special.

hey, this is the poster of this thread, the direction that thread has taken is really cool. Alot of people who i introduce symphony X or other bands to say that the fast keyboard solos are boring and all sound the same. I tell them to actually listen to them, but most of em dont have the patience. Ignorami!!

also, anyone who has fantasia 2000, go to the firebird sequence and start awakenings about 5 secs into the video, then when the point in the video comes where the ash is settling, skip forward in the video about 15-20 sec, it works almost perfectly. Might take a few tries, but it's a magical experience.
