AXEL RUDI PELL for Progpower! Please?

Would LOVE to see Axel at PP, but it seems unlikely from what was discussed in an earlier post. He has no interest at all to play outside of Europe as it seems...

I saw him at Wacken 2012, and while I'm a bigger fan of his music now than I was then, it was one of the more boring sets of the festival. I'm not sure what it was (potentially seeing them right after Massacre's set), but I found this to be one of the only disappointing acts of the weekend.

Still though, I'd go see him if he makes his way over to North America.

Boring? Could you precise? Because I've seen a few ARP DVDs and while Axel is quite static on the stage, Johnny Gioeli was enterntaining, and so was Mike Terrana (who's sadly no more in the band though). The playing is usually flawless as well.

This is what I wrote on my festival review:

Even though I love the albums I’ve bought of his, I wasn’t too impressed with ARP (the band, not the musician). Vocalist Johnny Gioeli didn’t do too great of a job on “Nasty Reputation”, and I thought the new material sounded boring. On the plus side, “Mystica” was more epic and awesome than on the album, but overall, their set was nothing special.

A bit brief, but honestly, it's hard to remember much after seeing 40 bands across those 4 days. I guess it's because I was mostly familiar with the old stuff, and a couple of new songs here and there, and I was hoping for a better performance of the older material.

Like I said, the transition from Massacre to Axel wasn't ideal either. Massacre was one of the stronger sets I've seen, and while I enjoy both bands a lot, the music styles are pretty different to go from one to the other.

I'm sure I would enjoy the band more if I saw them now, but they were probably the one band of the weekend that I didn't enjoy as much as I had hoped to.
