Not Nintendo either, but the composer of Final Fantasy's music, Uematsu, has a band called the Black Mages that play the battle songs in Final Fantasy in a Prog Power fashion.

I happen to quite like the NESkimos and the Minibosses, I think they're quite talented to construct actual good, passable metal songs out of classic 8 - 16 bit music.

that is all... well no there's more:
i got a large collection of 1300+ mp3s of just metal VG covers. i did the sound at magfest 3 and hung out til 7am with the minibosses. cool guys if you like the wild, crazy, and spontanious.

if anyone wants anything i'll be more than happy to send some stuff over aim.
