Baritone Guitar ? Can it do standard e tuning?

Hi i want to ask is it possible to tune in standard E tuning using extra light gauge string sets like a 42 - 9?

I am really want to know as i got a great deal on a Yamaha Drop 6 guitar ..

offcourse u can =) and as u say...9-42 will be perfect. just adjust the neck a little. i guess

considering tuning to E would raise the tension considerably because a baritone guitar has a longer neck, the neck will bow up a little and will have to be re-intonated. i advise not doing this yourself as you could really break the guitar if you don't know what you're doing.

what if i use a lighter string set like a 42-9 for eb standard tuning? would it work on a baritone?
