This is a horrible loss. Many people never knew of his name, but Barry and Trouble influenced so many of todays metal bands, including us. Even bands like Metallica. This is a sad, sad day. Another metal brother taken long before his time. I can't believe this...

I saw Barry with Zeotrope and it always blew me away when he would play these great thrash beats WHILE SINGING!
The 2 times that I saw him play with Trouble, he destroyed. He was a maniacal Bill Ward devotee with a smile on his face and fire in his heart.
He will be missed.
Go easy, man.

Barry Stern was a great drummer and a very nice guy as well. He was always grinning and laughing and having a good time whenever I'd see him at shows over the years. He was a forerunner of the true heavy metal scene here in Chicago and he deserves the recognition for what he's accomplished over the years.....Zoetrope's "Amnesty" and "A Life Of Crime", and Trouble's Def American self-titled and "Manic Frustration" cds are all masterful works that still rock many years later. He'll be missed.
