Bass effect on safe home / crash

Does anyone know what Frank used to get that synthish sound out of the bass on those WCFYA tracks?

I don't know if there are any bass players in the house who might know, or have a similar effect. Just curious.

Did you guys check out Frank's signature bass - Fenders web site sucks nuts and none of the stores near me carry it, but it's something I wanna check out.

still trying to figure out what he used to get that effect. I remember reading an interview way back when WCFYA first came out and he said exactly whate he used. Now I can't remember.
