Followed the Reaper
A bassist with a frog over his head walked up to a man.. the man asked WTF is that..? The frog replied: I dunno, it just grew there..

Lithium said:Man, what I was saying is that I dont hate ALL bass players, learn to read. I said I hate bass players that try to sound like lead guitarists. Bass is all about rythm, and if you play the thing the way it's supposed to be played it is a really nice instrument. It's cos I know this guy who plays bodom lead guitar solos on his bass....thats what I'm talking about.
All your guys' sarcasm and jokes about bass are getting so old now I'm starting to think you actually are all very ignorant and inconsiderate.
+1

if some one can play Alexi riffs and solos WHY THE FUCK NOT TO?
you just prove my point.

dilema1362 said:because thats not the purpose of a bass player. if the drummer could do crazy fucking solos for hours at a time does that mean he should throughout a song? no. the drummer is there basically to keep the rhythm while throwing in the occasional fill, and the bass players job is much the same. im not arguing that theyre not important to the band...because id actually argue that they are the most important part of any good band, as long as they are doing what their position entails them to do.
being a show off once in a while is ok, take burton for example...he was given his time to shit both on albums and on stage, but the majority of the time he was doing what a bassist is SUPPOSED TO DO which is play the fucking bass part...not the guitar part...not the keyboard part....not the drummers part...not the ukelele part....or the didgeridoo part...the fucking bass part, which is something most bassists understand when they pick up the instrument.....though it may be a crutial instrument in the making of a good band....its not a position that often allows for being in the forefront
FallingDownInRuins said:I agree with you man!
my problem is with ppl that judge and say crap when they them self musically NOT educated and dont know what the fuck they are talking about, thats all

"what do you call those people that hang around with musicians???"
"drummers."
bassists get shit on and will always get shit on. they tend to be the one in the band most people forget, and its just the nature of the job. it comes with the territory i guess....its gotta be more of a self-gratifying position IMO.
heres a question for you bassists out there....why did you choose the bass over any other instrument

no, not right!Lithium said:What are u flaming me for it you agree with him, he is exactly making the same point as I do. I might not be a ''Pr0 Gu174R1st'' but I still know that a bassist shouldnt be playing a ''Downfall solo''. U know I'm right so stfu

And what are you talkin about ''wrong nirvana song to be named after'' What should I have chosen, ''Jesus don't want me for a Sunbeam''??
