Bass tuning

Anyone here tuning their bass up?
I need to tune the bass to drop F so I figured I'd tune the bass up, but I'm not sure what gauge strings I should get.
The bass has a pretty thin neck so I'm kind of afraid of hurting it

Drop F? Jesus.

You'll probably be okay using a slightly thinner-than-normal gauge; maybe something with a .100 or less on the low string. Make sure the intonation and neck are adjusted to compensate for the thinner string.
