Favela of My Dismay
Anybody notice that over the past year the cost of living has skyrocketed on pretty much every fucking item available for consumption? If the price remains the same, then the portions are what are weened back, leaving the consumer a hungry fool & 9 dollars lighter. I just came back from Boston Market, picked up a regular sized portion of their Beef Brisket, a side of corn & a side of green beans. This paltry provender cost me nearly $10. 50 cents worth of veggies and not a dollar's worth of meat, Oy Vey, a Jew weeps over an Auschwitz grave, for starvation once was gratis. An item which fairly exemplifies this is a Hostess Fruit Pie.

What used to go for 4 for a dollar at the local grocer, now sells for $1.39 a pop.

Holy fuck! Hostess fruit pies?! I haven't thought of those in years. Makes me want one. But, what? $1.39 each? What happened?

Btw, a burrito here cost $6.50. That seems like alot to me.

i have been experiencing the opposite really. prices going down on most things. I mean there are deals to be had everywhere.

and the economy IS pointing towards a deflation, which would be the biggest crippling effect on an already shit economy.

dorian, how's the nursing market in Tennessee. my wife knows a chick that graduated some months ago and she can't find work anywhere around NY? her classmates are in the same boat.

*shrugs* I've heard stories like this but not around here. I wonder if A) these people are getting associates degrees and not bachelors degrees and/or B) they are applying for positions they have no business applying for

My coworker friend decided she needed a second job. So, she interviewed for a job taking care of a kid with cerebral palsy in his home. The interview was basically, "are you going to kill this kid?" and "how much money do you want?"
That's pretty much been my experience with interviews as well.

Dorian, I used to be able to roll in to El Pollo Loco and get two classic chicken burritos for around 4 dollars. FFWD 10 years and one will run you $4.50. A little more than gradual inflation if you want to me ask me, but whateve. I'll gladly pay if the cuisine will set my stomach to a purr. Rewind a week and this same burrito which usually does the trick in tandem with a steak taco could not quell the tumult found in my maw. Businesses serving antojito sized entrees has only been fairly noticeable in the past few months.

Last time I was doing background checks (a year ago), I was mostly processing HCA nursing applications from Tennessee. From that alone I'd say the nursing market in Tennessee is VERY healthy. But that was a year ago...

I've noticed some prices going up, some going down. I don't eat out very often so I can't really say anything about restaurant prices. I still manage to find what I need really cheap!

lol remember when you found my nursing license? haha
Not that it's hard or anything...just funny

@ Dorian: I remember now. Facebook lets you narrow search results down to specific cities. So, in case you technically lived in a city other than Nashville, I searched all the nurses with your name in Tennessee to get the city names and then search them on Facebook. Didn't really help though, just kept getting some black guy with your name

I sound like such a stalker now haha.

It's the same situation here, prices go up with yearly infalation, and half-yearly inflation, and 'we should be able to get a few more bucks out of these fuckbags' inflation, but pay stays the same.

There are organisations set up to control unfair and illegitamate cost rises, but for some reason these have no real effect on leveling things out to a steady pace of inflation. It's fairly pathetic, really.

Now there's also 'global warming', which causes price hikes on utilities. Water bills are set to go up 200% over the next five years, as Australia is in drought (which is on the verge of breaking in many places - already has in others). Taxes are used to fund a pipeline to take water from rivers in country areas where it is needed to irrigate farms, to provide for the cities, while northern states have disastrous floods in the wet season, all of which is wasted. Electricity prices go up, as a means for the government to dissuade us from burning those fossil fuels. Diesel costs more than unleaded petrol here, that's one thing I'll never understand.

Yarp. Try selling used music gear these days. Holy living fuck it sucks. On the opposite side, try buying used music gear these days. Holy living fuck it rules.

I've done my best to all but ignore shit about the economy over the past 6 months, but it still seems pretty clear to me that deflation was the case that they gave me.

CPI report came in lower than expected. (Food/Energy Excluded)

Too bad most of my expensives are on FUCkING FOOD & ENERGY!

Dont worry the 1.2 T & Soon to be 3.5T in pork masqueraded as infrastructure will make it all better.

Taco Bell 12 pack will be 79.99 by 2023. You will own nothing, and like it!

P.S Remind me to check the prices of mini pies next time I go to the market. I'd wager theyre well over a dollar each by now.

The inverse is now true. I could sell all my gear and probably retire.

But then I'd have to jerk off instead of wank bass. Booooring!

Y'all know my local taco stand across from the homeless encampment heh? Well their burritos were 7 fn bucks at the time that I snapped that shot. They recently as of one month ago jumped to 9.

Just came byke from there right now.

TEN FUCKING DOLLARS. Well we've reached the breaking point of how much I'll spend on this shit. At 10 bucks I may still go, but not as fucking frequently, thats for damn sure. If they try and pull some shit and make it 11, well then good games.
