I've had major GAS for a 8 string for over 2 years now, and i still wouldn't mind one, but 9 string is just going too far, how much lower do motherfuckers need to tune haha

Geezus, these "9 strings are stupid, why do you need so many strings" post are just so immature and closed minded, honestly.
It's because of people not wanting to actually try anything new and have acceptance of new ideas that we will never progress and just be stuck where we are.
No one says you have to play the damn things, but I don't understand what's so hard about accepting the idea, and accepting that good music can come out of the experimentation?

The issue is that it's completely unnecessary, when people don't even the use the full range of 8 strings. It would be fine if people did actually experiment, but they don't (the vast majority, animals as leaders being the only exception I can think of)

yea there will be a handful of bands that will experiment with this and make something really unique. Then there will be all the rest who make brutal djent. lol
Also, i look at this thing and i say to myself.... wow... how stupid. but why does a part of me want it? lol
