Well, just heard from michael angelo that he has a few of these in his studio and reckons they are great value for money!?

£99 as well? Anyone owned one of these?

Discuss? :kickass:

I had one at one time. It was no better than the pres in my Mackie mixer. For the money I think an M-Audio DMP-3 is a better pre.
I noticed on his site that he listed several "tube" pre-amps and in the picture it's all Behringer "toob" units. I got a chuckle.

Beat an m-audio 1010-lt at all?

I second the RNP. I still have it somwhere around here in a rack, as well as an RNC together. Great pre and comp setup for the money, honestly can't be beat. It doesn't get much use nowadays because we have so many other single/dual-mono pre's that are higher up in the quality food chain. But the RNP+RNC can hang with the big boys, that's fo sho.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Behringer stuff. I have never heard one single bad review of the FMR stuff, and that includes build quality/reliability/etc. Plus I've had mine for years and it's still holding up just fine. Man...I think I'll go dig up that rack unit with them in it. I feel like being nostalgic or something.

those things are shite. and they break easy from what i hear.

+1
anything sounds better than the 1953, i had one and simply hated it! don't waste your money with that.. Michael Angelo is a wacko :goggly:

save your money and buy a real preamp (not necessarely an expensive one) if you want to hear the difference on your trackings

lol toolish!! couldn't say better

to be honest, i wasn't expecting that much about the 1953, but i didn't think it would be SO shitty.. the only behringer gear i use now is the powerplay and that's it

Mine must be broken, because it sounds great. Much better than my TL Audio preamp which was at least 4 times the price. Don't consider it a tube unit though, as the tube is wired in parallell and fed with too low voltage to really do anything useful. It adds harmonics to the signal, not much else. Sounds good as an effect, but this IS a solid state unit.
