Bendigo lads!

Fuck the stimulus package...

Get the army to start building camps, coms, supplies and sanitation.

Start mobilising the skilled unemployed from the collapsed mining towns, and give them jobs, initially cleaning up, then rebuilding.

Rebuild the schools (halls), halls, council buildings and libraries (comms), and churches...and pubs

When the insurance companies have sorted their shit out, offer them subsidies and subsidised labour to start rebuilding the places.

Can't think of a better stimulus than that IMO

was at work today and found out that the JB Hi-Fi group is using their charity, Helping Hands, to raise funds for the bushfire victims.

lot of talk about it at Clive Anthony's today since two of the staff members are from the areas affected.

also, Shannow, you should honestly e-mail your federal MP with your idea and get other people in yoru area to do so too.
I suggest this to everyone, especially those living in the ravaged areas.

excellent suggestions.

Hmmm...linking the Fire restitution to the stimulus package is interesting.

Question the stimulus package, and delay helping the needy. Help the needy, and the whole pork barrel gets tipped.

If I were a cynic...

Stimulus funds

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says money from the economic stimulus plan will go to Victoria and Queensland fire and flood regions as a top priority.

Mr Rudd announced extra funding to help victims of the disasters and he has told Parliament that offers of help and expressions of sympathy have flooded in from around the world.

He also says the two states will be able to draw on their share of the stimulus plan for public housing and schools.

"The Victorian Government will be able to give priority construction of school infrastructure in communities affected by bushfires," he said.

Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull has written to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd expressing concern at his linking of the bushfire recovery funds to the economic stimulus plan.

Mr Turnbull's letter asks for clarification of the link.

His spokesman says the Opposition's view is that disaster relief should be separate and distinct from the stimulus package.

He says Mr Turnbull's letter also says whatever it takes must be done to help the disaster victims.

ah yes, the fuck knuckle who sais that God caused the bushfires because Victoria abolished anti-abortion laws and then went on about how good he was organising releif for victims, stating that the two were different things.

I know who to lynch next.

ABC's program Media Watch did a very thought piece on how the fires were reported.

since I don't watch commerical TV and especially avoid tabloid shows like TT and ACA, it both shocked and came as no shock what they did to get a story.
But not as shocking as what some of the newspapers said and did.

Such as the bitch Devine from SMH saying that it was the fault of Greenies that the fire happened and that they should all be lynched for it.
