I'm looking to convert my Ibby SRC6 into a dedicated baritone guitar and was wondering what might be the best active 3.5" soapbar for a 30" scale? Looking to keep the bottom end tight, but am not that interested in super defined note articulation, as I'm mostly playing slower-paced doom/sludge material.

Thanks.

The SRC6 is a very interesting guitar. I played one for 5 min in a store but the setup they have didn't help that much.
Now that you mention slower paced doom/sludge stuff, and that you want to keep it as a baritone "guitar" i think 707 would do a better job at those genres than something ceramic. I Think the 707 is 3.5''
The 707 is a weird pickup, in some guitars like my friend's Schecter Loomis sounded great. In my Jackson COW was a bit too muddy. But i think will work with something at 30'' scale.

The stock pups, the 35HZs, take, imo, a lot of EQing to get them to sound serviceable, not great sounding, but serviceable. Using a Boss 7 band EQ, I found I have to cut a little at 200, 400, and 800, boost slightly at 1.6 and 3.2, and completely kill the 6.4s. Output seems pretty low too, and you have to crank the gain a little to compensate. That said, since the guitar is already set up for EMGs, I figured I'd just switch over from the passives to actives. Thing is, there are several active 3.5" soapbars to choose from, and not enough good quality clips on-line of them.

As for the 707s, I've worked with them before in a Schecter Hellraiser I used to own, Remember thinking they were a little too prone to fizzyness, but that also could have just as easily been my lack of EQing skills then as well. Anyways, was thinking more along the lines of a 60-7, an 81-7, or an 85-7.

Was also thinking about trying some SD Blackouts, but heard they sound overly scooped.

Blackouts are great, never heard of them being scooped. Preety sure there are more than a few comparison clips( (EMG VS SD) here in the forum
