Actually, there was a very cool band from Canada in the mid-90's called "Sons of Otis" who pulled it off nicely. I still listen to their demo to this day. But, then again, they had a drummer & some catchy riffs.

Yep, or more precisely, SUNN is an amplifier brand. Their logo has a circle with the waves, and AFAIK the band named themself after the amp brand.
