Yet Bal-Sagoth is pure black metal, eh?

Bal-sagoth is symphonic black, if you're getting all subsubgenre about it.

Semantics, either way I voted for Dimmu Borgir. :D

yes, bla-sagoth it is symphonic black metal but this is one of a lot black metal style so it is black metal.
different and very special.. but still black metal

So symphonic black counts as black metal, but death black (or whatever you called Dissection) doesn't?

symphonic black metal it's still black metal, and all the styles that existent in the black metal.. brutal black metal and melodic black metal and technical and bla bla....
but it's like the brutal death metal and melodic death metal and technical.......

bal-sagoth it is black metal, the symphonic is just the melody of the band.. but it is black.

Okay then I'll agree Bal-Sagoth belongs on the list, but I'll still argue that using that logic qualifies Dissection as black metal as well.
