Best books/videos/Software for critical listening skills

I've been wanting to develop my critical listening skills for audio production and was wondering if any of you guys have used a book/dvd/software for learning it? I have an app on my tablet that tests me on eq but was wondering if there was anything else that goes deeper into it beyond just eq. Maybe what something sounds like compressed or with a little chorus and stuff like that.

I found Golden Ears helpful but extremely boring IMO of course. Personally I couldn't finish it and gave up. Better ask the Pros around here though. I'm just a hobbyist.
