Best Buy is th place to get...

Already got all those CDs. I'm so sick of this Japanese or Best Buy bonus track bullshit. Bonus tracks should be on every CD period. It may stop some people from burning their own versions.

It might stop some but this is clearly for die hard fans and collectors.
Do you know the purpose behind the Japanese albums having bonus tracks?
In the past albums were released in Japan after they hit the streets in Europe and the USA. The labels in Japan added bonus tracks on thier pressings to prevent fans from purchasing the import versions and hold off a week or two for the Japanese pressings...Granted these days some releases are released there before anywhere else, but the bonus tracks stayed. Now it's the fans across the world picking up import Japanese discs. I see nothing wrong with the bonus tracks myself. Then again I collect certain things and will buy something for the collection. I'm not big on this downloading thing.

I'm with Brandon on this one. I don't care for bonus tracks much at least not the point of getting Japanese versions of albums I can get for half the price minus one song. Songs that anyway can be downloaded if you want and/or that the band eventually release in an EP or a collection (like Astral Doors did a cpuple of years ago).

Nevertheless I have gone several times for the special editions because for a couple of extra bucks (and not the Japanese price) I do get extra material (like with Jorn, Tyr and some other bands).

And properly on the topic, I already have all the material with Dio on Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell, I won't gonna buy a boxset for three extra songs or a lousy live CD, that' a complete rip-off IMO (besides I don't have Best Buy or Wal Mart here )

Is everything remastered, or did they just repackage it in a box set?

Bonus tracks should be on separate CDs period.

You mean a separate CD that you can buy or a separate CD inside a boxset? I won't mind bonus tracks on a separate CD providing it comes on the special edition of the album and that the price worth they have them (examples Falconer "Northwind", Meliah Rage "Barely Human", Dream Evil "United")

Otherwise I agree with PM74 that all CDs should be equal regardless of region, same tracks, same tracks order, same bonus tracks, same artwork, same jewel case (fuck digipacks!)

While I agree with Sixx on why they do it, the fact that they still do it while CDs are dying out is bullshit. If I can burn my own version of a CD with bonus tracks for virtually free, why would I pay $25 for a Japanese import?

To not be a fucking leech and support the artist?

True or if you collect that kind of stuff...
I can see people not wanting to buy imports obviously there is still
"some" demand because they still issue them. These labels are about making money like every other business. Not only that but the new generation doesn't have the "passion" for collecting. They are perfectly satisfied with downloading or ripping a copy from a friend. They don't care about the artwork, reading liners, bonus tracks, live rarities they want it on their iPod now and that's all they care about.

Precisely. And to us who do buy and collect CDs, it's a pain. When they issue Japanese Bonus Tracks, I buy the American version and download the bonus tracks (ie. United Abominations).

I buy the cheapest version but I do not download the bonus tracks further than for curiosity. I do not burn my own CDs, and like Sixx said I do care for the artwork, the product itself, the passion of a colector and even if the band gets a miser dollar at least I did my job and bought the album, didn't rip-off the band totally. Moreover I love to take pics of the albums and put them on the MySpace comments (when available) for the bands I follow to show my support.

I ask you would you like everybody downloading "Through the Mirror" for free? :err:

I'm talking about something like the Candlemass re-issues

The ones I mentioned are like the Candlemass reissues, very good ones btw and I didn't paid much at the time for them.

True. As a collector I want to get as many versions of a band's album as I can. Why because I'm probably mentally ill. Case in point. I'm a huge Motley Crue fan and despite the fact that they released a mediocre album I have three copies of SOLA right now with another on it's way... I have the one with the censored cover, the statndard slip cover version, an advance version and I have in the mail the Best Buy CD/DVD combo... I don't do this with every band but I collect everything by three bands Motley being one of them and I do this with the other two as well. I'm that way with import cd singles. Do I need them? No. But I do it because I love music, I love the band and it passes the time. I don't drink or smoke anymore so guess what? Concerts and music is where that money is spent....
I would bet that there are a select few that are that way with Heaven And Hell and will buy this new set with the additional disc.

Actually, the only reason why I would get this is to have those albums remastered to sound better. At least this version of "Live Evil" is the double disc edition, unlike the previously remastered European single disc version that fucked up the flow of the album to get everything to fit into 80 minutes. The extra disc of bonus tracks I already have since I have that Black Sabbath "Live at Hammersmith" CD, which I purchased from Rhino Records when the limited edition of 5,000 was still available.
