Best Buy is th place to get...

Like W.A.S.P.'s Dominator for example has never been released here in the USA. I don't know if that's a blessing or not as I haven't heard a peep from that album... Still if I want to buy it I'll have to pay $24.00-$35.00 depending on the country of origin...

i liked dominator. i got it for $20 at the local music store. the only independant store in richmond va

True. As a collector I want to get as many versions of a band's album as I can. Why because I'm probably mentally ill. Case in point. I'm a huge Motley Crue fan and despite the fact that they released a mediocre album I have three copies of SOLA right now with another on it's way... I have the one with the censored cover, the statndard slip cover version, an advance version and I have in the mail the Best Buy CD/DVD combo... I don't do this with every band but I collect everything by three bands Motley being one of them and I do this with the other two as well. I'm that way with import cd singles. Do I need them? No. But I do it because I love music, I love the band and it passes the time. I don't drink or smoke anymore so guess what? Concerts and music is where that money is spent....
I would bet that there are a select few that are that way with Heaven And Hell and will buy this new set with the additional disc.

my god yes in SOLA mediocre and sounds like some modern radio crap. i liked sixx:a.m. and thuoght it was brilliant but this is just six:a.m. with vince singing which is stupid

Most probably, I'm a collector but I only need one version of the album :err:. I'll try to pick the one with most extras for the less cost, but still I only need one.

Agreed. The only albums I ever bought 2 copies of were Slave to the Grind and Siam - Language of Menace (There are 2 pretty different versions). I hate buying the same thing several times for "slightly more".

As for the remaster thing, you can just hit the Loudness button on your stereo. Remasters are simply louder with more EQ pumped through and no dynamics.

Well whatever works for you. I'm not the average hard rock or metal fan. I don't look the part, the main bands that I collect aren't even metal... ZZ Top, Motley Crue and classic KISS... I think this stems from my sports card collecting days. Which when a player's rookie card is issued there isn't just one card issued. There are several card companies and there are easily 10+ cards. One might say a rookie is a rookie right? It's adding to the collection that's the mentality in that hobbie and I've just transfered that to music....

There are 3-4 tracks on there that I can't enough of...
Down At The Whisky...
Just Another Psycho...
Face Down In The Dirt...
And
S.O.L.A., love the chorus to that one...

those are about the only songs i like too. add to that "whats it gonna take". "down at the whiskey" and "just another psycho" sound a little too modern sometimes though. i wouldn't be surprised if 4 or so of the songs on SOLA were started/demo ideas from the actual sixx:a.m. album. i thought nikki said they had written over 20 songs for the sixx:a.m. project? well if they did here is the rest of them lol. the album was a huge letdown

While some cringe at the mention of Bob Rock, at least when referring to Metallica... I think he was sorely missed on this album. That and the fact that it's a Sixx/Mars effort. I question how much Tommy Lee even played on this record....

i had the same thought. some of the drum parts don't sound like tommy at all

Regarding the original post of this thread - The Rules of Hell box set - I will be buying the boxset because:
  1. I'm a Black Sabbath and Dio die-hard.
  2. I already have the 3 studio albums with Dio but I don't have Live Evil. Well, I do, but on vinyl LP.
  3. The box of the box set looks cool.
  4. The extra CD with live tracks is the clincher. Any live Dio is good. I was unable to buy the Live At Hammersmith, so this is the next best thing.
Contrary to what some have implied, there are no bonus tracks. The studio albums are as they were with the exception of improved sound.
