What the topic says. Looking for new progressive death metal stuffs and figured I'd give these guys a try.

They are definitely not progressive death metal. If you like American Metal Hardcore, try them out. Similar to Trivium, although alot less polished. Personally, they get boring really fast. Poor in concert too. But to each his own....

killswitch are excellent
good old fasioned heavy metal you can actually sing along to.

nothing wrong with that in my book (call me old fashioned - i am 34 yo)

I'm not a fan... normally even bands I don't like -when I see them live, they can get me into it. But I saw Killswitch at Wacken and got so bored I sat down and drank instead... Straight up metalcore, massively overrated

Alive or Just Breathing is absolute quality, not too keen on their other stuff though.

not too big on them, aojb is definitely their best album songwriting wise and lyric wise...I can handle teoh too, but the last one wasn't good at all

my 5th best consert was Killswitch engage when they visited Stockholm last year, Adam D is one of my absoulte favourite musicians.
As Daylight Dies is their best album by far.

Their best album is There Are No Good Albums From Us, We Suck. Seriously, don't get this band in these discussions on this forum. For the health of my (pretentious and close-minded) ears and eyes. Anyway, I don't care about your taste or anyone's, but I sometime believe that bands like this ruin what metal is. But that's just my stupid-conservative-whore point of view.

rofl they're great at what they do, which is play some hardcore-influenced metal. they're a great live band, judging by videos I've seen, and aojb is a great album that was truely one of a kind (I mean srsly, look at all the bands who fail at replicating the sound, writing, and lyrics of that album.)

if that makes me untr00 or some shit then fuck it

I've seen them live a few times & enjoyed each show.
They were a better recording band with Jesse at the mic but...
Howard does a good job live &
Adam is always fun to watch.

I like Alive Or Just Breathing. In 2001 it was actually somewhat of a unique album - remember this was at a time when Limp Bizkit and Korn were at the top of the 'metal' pile - and was a breath (no pun) of fresh air. And they were positively great at what they were doing (as Nicholas says).

I will admit the albums following that don't do to much for me - they became a bit to 'candy-coated' with those choruses after that (whether that has to do with a change in vocalist or not I don't know but I far prefer Jesse Leech).

Yes, they are a metalcore band, and I know that there is a massive backlash against that style on principle alone - and believe me, I really don't care for any of these bands that have come about in the 6 or 7 years - so I guess whether you'd enjoy them depends upon your ability to get past that prejudgement.

And NastyFire, ruin what metal is? I know what you are saying, but that is a bit of a doosra.

Had to check urban dictionary to find out what doosra means (hate to do that), but I can assure and assume that it was meant to be that way. And I totally agree that it's stupid, but that's my little inside conviction and it directly refers to my taste in music, which abolish that sort of bands.

Yeah, I knew what you meant and know it was just as much of a joke as it was a serious thought - but you know that kind of thing gets you shot around here :)
