best power metal band

Some people classify Symphony X and Bodom as power metal, but of the bands typically classified as power metal, maybe Blind Guardian or Iced Earth.

All I know is Power metal tends to blow live.
Actually, no. I saw Primal Fear live in the late 90's (they were at a fest), and they were fucking stellar, especially as at the time, I hadn't heard any of their material, and I was still stuck in the power metal = gay mode.

Never seen them so I guess I may have judged wrong.

I don't classify Iced Earth as Power Metal, but that's just me.

Nightwish gets my vote (although they are borderline power to me)

Virgin Steele I think.

Virgin Steele is fantastic. Mature, epic, grandoise, probably the best Power Metal...ever. Their old stuff is cheesy and boring though, it really starts and ends with "Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part 1" to "House of Atreus Act II."

Sounds cool. So are there two of them with the same name and different tracks? I'm confused.

Yeh theres the original that was done in 95 and the remake done in 00, same tracks, just 00 has better quality but also greater cheese levels. The only place where 95 lags in that it was done when they were like 16/17, so it gets kinda dodgey at times
