i think that record is pretty much immortal and classic top-to-bottom, except the chorus on "before the storm" is kind of lame. but then again, it's lame in an endearing 80's metal sort of way, so it passes

it's really a pity that so many from ~my generation~ (i.e. not old enough to have been around back in the day) think queensrÿche was always an inconsistent/terrible pseudo-metal band

i try to convince all my buddies to listen to "the warning" because they like other Actual Heavy Metal and i know they'd love it if they gave it a chance, but they keep coming up with a never-ending variety of dumb-ass excuses

No band's high point and low point is separated by a greater distance than Queensryche. It truly is a shame how they've tarnished the legacy they were creating.

Promised Land should be included. It is severely underrated. My vote goes to Mindcrime though.

Worthless attempt at reddeming myself though: I still haven gotten around to BUYING The Chemical Wedding + loving these Queensrÿche songs

cool shit man

also: you own that scorpions album with the terrible, terrible cover art

Agreed.

The other thing that is rarely mentioned about Queensryche is, no "mainstream" band has ever so dramatically altered their sound from disc to disc. Each of their first five discs represent a distinct departure from the sound of their previous release.

would anyone actually pick promised land over the first four though

i mean it might be pretty good but is it THAT good

I want to add that while most probably hate Empire (it wasn't mentioned in the thread or included in the poll) I still have a soft spot for it. The songwriting was still way ahead of most of the crap on the radio at that time.
