I want to add that while most probably hate Empire (it wasn't mentioned in the thread or included in the poll) I still have a soft spot for it. The songwriting was still way ahead of most of the crap on the radio at that time.

Agreed. I despise "Silent Lucidity" largely because it was overplayed but love that album

i have now realized that everything on "rage for order" is really great except "gonna get close to you" and "chemical youth" which are both intolerably cheesy, though in different ways

here're my most played tracks on last.fm for the last 12 months

of course, last.fm doesn't count my car stereo, cd player, or youtube plays

I'd say both are solid, but at the same time, the weakest tracks on the disc. Not sure why they bothered with a cover song.

Rage for Order will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first cassette I bought the summer I started driving. I had just spent $350 putting a Clarion car stereo and speakers (1988 dollars) into my 1979 Toyota Celica. I can still remember sitting at the traffic light, outside the record store, as the opening notes of "Walk in the Shadows" started to blare out of my rolled-down windows. Fuck that was forever ago.

For about a year or so now I've been exclusively listening to music in my car, from my phone, just so I can capture it on Last.fm.
