Best way to disrespect a live band....

While I think every band deserves a shot, and nobody deserves having middle fingers in their face, shit thrown at them or yelled that ect, I am totally with you on this one. My concert going in recent years has declined big time, a lot of it has to do with ticket prices but a lot of it also has to do with my "dedication" to the music. After seeing thousands of shows I just don't have it in me anymore to sit through bands that have no business playing in a garage in front of nobody let alone opening for a national tour.

This is the case for me too.
I am just as dedicated to buying CDs, discovering new bands, etc.
Though I am VERY selective when going to live shows these days.
I can not tolerate going to shows with one decent band, and 3 openers that have no business being signed in the first place.

What the hell is wrong with CM and Nuc Blast these days?
Almost every time one of their crappy new bands gets added to a tour, I will go to check out some info on them, only to find they were formed in like 2005! I mean, I didn't realize their finger was SO far removed from the pulse of the underground.

I am shocked at most of the crap that Century Media puts out now a days. At least Nuclear Blast Europe puts out good stuff. Appearantly this mallcore crap must sell because there is so many of htese bands getting signed it seems. Just like NuMetal, it will run it's course and then be just another page in the book of trends.

I know business is business, but I thought these labels had more integrity than that. Furthermore, I thought Victory and Metal Blade had ownership in the market of crappy mallcore bands.

To go along with this, I watched "Century Overload" over the weekend with a friend of mine (their big 3-DVD edition of videos) and my GOD was it monotonous! Very few standouts. I suppose it's selling to someone.

I love video collections on DVD. I was excited when I saw this was coming out....(I didnt know who or what was really on this). I went to Metal Haven the next day since the got it in. That sucker was put back on the shelf quicker than a good bands set at Milwaukee Metalfest. They didnt even seem to care about putting anything else other than all the crap videos on there. At least the Nuclear Blast one has good extras. the band selection was terrible got the CM disc set.

I await the day when it runs its course. :erk:

Yeah, but some bands are smart and just shift their sound towards a new trend. (IE - Linkin Park dropping the rap, and riding the mallgoth trend, etc)

The funniest thing ever, was on that VH1 special "Heavy: The History of Metal" There is the last hour which has all the Korn, Slipknot, etc crap. They interview Fred Durst, who says, "No matter what we did, it was ALWAYS about the metal!" X 10000000000

Yeah, and they flipped to a live clip of Bizkit, where Durst was wearing a fuzzy floppy hat, and some gold chain, where he is giving the "horns" to the audience.

not always....most of the shit bands are openers and if it is a crowded show and you want to get a good spot....you are stuck.

That, and the fact that sometimes the timing / band order / etc changes without notice.

I think we have all fallen victim to this, and maybe missed a band because the show started earlier, or a band was rotated in the order.

Always safest to get to a gig as early as possible.
