maybe it's just because i'm a bassist (and at least half gay) but i've always preferred single guitar bands to dual. much more of a personality that way between the interplay of different instruments. i mean Mustaine used to harmonize with himself so that excuse just went out the window too. Poland and Friedman ruled, but only for teh soloz. blah blah blah blah interesting post nice to meet you kthxbye.

dual bass bands are cool for like 8 seconds before you realize that the one dude is just playing a big guitar anyhow.

actually i've heard very few dual bass bands, but even King Crimson didn't pull it off so well in the early 90's with Trey Gunn and Tony Levin, who are both FUCKNIG AWESOME on an individual level.

ugh i'm just going to leave this thread. sorta tired of being insulted for having a different opinion. fags.

After hearing the occasionally problematic double duo perform Sleepless live, I've come to realize that's one of the top five opening basslines ever.

As for Mark's question...Murray/Smith, no question.

Whenever someone poses a question like that, I'm never quite sure what they're asking:

In terms of favorite - Frank Hannon & Tommy Skeoch
In terms of best players - Marty Friedman & Jason Becker
In terms of most important to Metal - Dave Murray & Adrian Smith

Zod

KING/HANNEMAN :-) Not the best technical players; but they make SLAYER sound

You didn't really just write these guys down in a thread in which we're debating the Maiden guitarists, did you?

Good point.

I always found it funny when Kirk Hammet kept receiving "Guitar Player of the Year" awards -- he only showed up to lay down a solo here or there! His wah wah pedal should have won the award am I right
