BillyJ & Hockey

Hey Bill,
I assumed by your Bio that you play Hockey. Did you by chance play in a league in Fremont say 5-6 years ago??

Brian

Hi Brian,

Yeah, that is about the right time, I think. The team was the Vipers.
It's been awhile, so I'm trying to remember names. Do you know Beau?

~Bill

Haa!! Too Funny! The Vipers with the good 'ol V on the jersey. I either recognize you becasue perhaps your name was on the back of your jersey or I recognized your face. I was on the Hawks. As I recall there were some great rivalries with about 4 teams that seemed to stick together for a few years (Hawks, Subzero, Vipers, and ??).

Did you have a Goatee back then. You may not remember me but I was the major pain in the ass wearing #24. Our Captain was Steve Munoz. I don't know of a Beau though Steve will likely remember.

So now I can say I have played Hockey with a Pro Hockey Player, A "Rock Star", and a news anchor (also in Fremont).

The Hawks - yeah I remember. #24?! I remember! I'm dropping the gloves right
now! Just kidding :)

I didn't have a goatee. I do remember having some beers after some of the games
against you guys in that bar area they had upstairs. I remember someone stealing
all of the jerseys they had on the walls too. It was fun playing in that league.

I also recall someone being an - ah well - never mind - if it was you I might be
blowing your cover...

I can't remember the name of that other team either.

So, how did you end up in Portland?

~Bill

Walsh. That was his name. He was on your team. Now that guy irritated us on the ice.

I moved to Pornland for affordable housing and a job transfer.

Speaking of jobs. This could get even stranger. How long have your worked for Korg? Did you work in their R&D office just outside of Santa Cruz? If the answers yes I'll drop a name on you.

Here's another fun fact. So I sign up for hockey up here and I come to find out that the guy who ran our league in Fremont is running the league up here.
Thankfully he does not remember me either :p

Walsh, hmmm, I can't remember, but you know, every team has to
have someone to get under the other team's skin...

I've been at Korg for just over 8 years now. The R&D office has always been
in Milpitas, as far as I know. There have been a few guys that left there that
started up a new company down in the Santa Cruz area.

I have a brother that lives up in that area. "Affordable" is an understatement!
It's nice up there.

Cheers,
Bill

I just realized I think I was thinking of Akai. I think they had R&D in Aptos. I had a friend that was there.

To me the bigger surprise in Portland was the amount of live music. Well that and the near 1 strip joint per every square mile (Hence my calling it Pornland).

Anyhoo, I'll let you get back to that nerdy electronics design stuff :loco:
