Black Ice

I also saw them at Madison square garden and it was fucking amazing, best show I've seen (doubt motley will beat it on a few months) but ya the album was also amazing, same sound us ac/DC fans were waiting for

They are, actually, pretty much the biggest band in the world. They are second only to the Beatles in records sold. I read this recently on CNN online or something. They consistently sell millions. In the years since the last record, they've sold something like 7 million records. That's just back catalogue stuff. Crazy, but there it is. People like the basics I guess, which is not to dig on AC/DC since I like them quite alot.
You have to consider the source... CNN isn' much of a rock expert... and they probably based their finding because of Back in Black being one of the biggest selling rock albums of all time... I would say some other bands have sold more then AC/DC throughout their career but that is not to say the Aussie's are not high on the list because they are imo... these bands I would say sold just as much if not more:

1. Rolling Stones
2. Pink Floyd
3. Led Zeppelin

Nah it's pretty accuive seen some of that info on their site also

Album sales throughout their careers:

Beatles: over 1 billion worldwide

Led Zeppelin: 300 Million albums worldwide

Rolling Stones: More then 200 Million albums worldwide

Pink Floyd: 210 million albums worldwide

AC/DC : estimated 200 million albums worldwide

It's ok to be a fanboy of AC/DC (i'm one) but that doesn't change the fact that other bands have sold more albums then them. You can find these figures on Wiki with references as to where they got these figures.

that right there is basically correct. as far as newer releases go don't forget U2 always sells 3-4 million copies of a new album in the united states which is more than the stones or ac/dc sell now
