A rough generalization: It's very common that after 'loudnessing' indie based rock/metal production you get (most likely guitar) resonance at around ~2,~3, or ~5k depending on if it was mainly worked on 2-way, 3-way/small 2-way or headphones/earbuds. Less obvious problematic frequencies are usually ~120 (mixing at too loud listenig level/room boom), ~400 (good monitors sound transparent while consumer system will sound muddy), 750-1000 (closed-back headphones), and perhaps the crossover frequency of possible separate subwoofer. If mix lacks highs over 8k or so the mixing room usually needs more dampenign or background noise reduction. ^_^
