What with calling your next album The King of Metal. Then you get to see the cover with Blaze depicted as the Messiah. I like the angle the cover is shot as so we can't see Blaze's many chins! We love you Blaze but please this is bordering on self adulation! Hope the album is better than The Promise and Terror which was merely ok though I guess it's too much to wish for a return to the sound of the first two albums since Blaze can't afford Sneap-like productions any more.

I kinda agree with you. And for me, only his first 3 albums were good, and even excellent, easily his best stuff in career. Since then, his stuff is more on the weak side. Hope he'll come back with somthing nice on that King Of Metal disc.

He's definitely very humble in that interview:

"I'm an underground, cult heavy metal singer. Not that many people know about me. But the people that do really like it. So I'm really lucky in that way. It's nice really."

"I'm not interested in being a rockstar, I'm a singer."

Thanks for posting it!

I'm a fan. Easily two of the best Maiden albums for me. Unfortunate his recent tour didn't hit the southeast :(

Damn...really? Have you heard any other Maiden albums?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Bruce stuff too. My favorite period is from Fear of the Dark to Brave New World. The Blaze stuff just happens to fall right in the middle. I wish they played more of the songs live with Bruce now, especially X-Factor material.

Is he calling himself the king of heavy metal? From what I saw of the Blabbermouth article where they released the name of the album, I remember him saying that like.. the fans are the king of heavy metal.. something like that. I don't think he was calling HIMSELF the king, but uh, that album cover.. no me gusta. I love Blaze, I really do, but I'm not a fan of the cover.

I think in a way he does. Not in a boastful way but in a way such as when he perseveres playing metal when anyone else would have given up. He is not THE king of metal but he is a A king of metal if you catch my drift. I love Blaze by the way and have seen him live numerous times but the cover is a bit eyebrow raising wouldn't you think? Having a picture of yourself as a Jesus type figure although the slightly reddened eyes leads me to believe he has a little devil in him too!

Oh my God I hate the new song! It's completely awful with terrible production not fit for a metal album in 2012. I'm sorry Blaze but this stuff is really rubbish. Where has the melody gone and using stupid lyrics as well? This stuff is light years away from the class of the early Blaze albums. The whole album sounds like a demo recording with a bunch of average tunes that go in one ear and out the other. Don't get me wrong it's not half hearted by Blaze, he puts his heart and soul into it but the album is at best patchy and weak, and at worst complete crap that should never have been recorded. The only thing that is ok are the odd guitar solos here and there which are not bad. He fired the whole previous band cause he couldn't afford to pay them or something and this is the result. Something even worse than The Promise and The Terror. By the way there is a ballad on the album called One More Step which is either extremely cringeworthy or extremely brave depending on how you look at it. Lucky for you Youtube doesn't have it! To end on a positive note the album is better than Lulu...just!

I'm sad to say that I kinda agree with you. I played the album once and thought it was really average stuff, as were the last couple albums as well. Where is the Blaze that recorded the great 1st 3 albums (Silicon Messiah, Tenth Dimension and Blood & Belief)? These 3 albums are indeed light years ahead of the crap that followed them in term of songwriting and performance...

I still like his voice, but I have to agree. To me, what made his early solo material work is the emotion he put into the songs. He doesn't seem to have any of that anymore.

OMG! What happened to him? I was going to say something non-appropriate, until I remembered that his wife passed, which I guess meant for him putting on some weight! That and the shaved head certainly changed him a lot! I do respect him and his music, have all his solo albums and I tend to agree, the two Maiden records, while not essential, weren´t bad either, just a little draggin on too long!! What´s with the scar though, any story there?
