Blind Gaurdian Recs?

Well fellow peasant, their early stuff is more hardcore speed metal. I'm not too familiar with all that stuff. The albums I would recommend would be:

Tales From the Twilight World (this is the album they began to change on, but it still has some of their old speed influences)
Imaginations From the Other Side
Somewhere Far Beyond
Nightfall in Middle-Earth
A Night At the Opera

Tales from the TWilight World/Imaginations for their best power stuff, but i'd have a feeling Follow the Blind will be the cd you grow most attached to.

I didn't recommend A Twist in the Myth because I think that would turn someone off of BG if it was the first album they heard. Definitely listen to the older stuff before getting that one.

Somewhere Far Beyond is imo clearly their best release, but you can do nothing wrong with their first 6 albums

That's actually my first BG album, I never listen to it anymore though.

Wow, that's impressive. I found it quite disappointing alongside their previous releases. I probably would have given up if I heard that first.

Yeah, the fillers is what ruins it for me. Some really good fucking tunes on that album.

Yeah, the interludes are the worst part. But songs like Nightfall, The Curse of Feanor, Mirror Mirror, Time Stands Still, and When Sorrow Sang absolutely kick ass. They're the songs that make the record worthwhile, in my opinion.

These are the 2 I have and they kick reasonable amounts of ass. Not brilliant masterpieces, but good albums.

Yeah, I really like both those records. They sound a lot different from their earlier material though; significant changes in their sound.

Personally, I think A Night At the Opera is a great album. A lot of fans seem to be less fond of that one, but I think it's a killer record. Lots of fun, catchy songs. Definitely cheesy, but who really cares? :headbang:
