I'm picking up their DVD, "Imaginations From The Looking Glass" next week. Any comments on how it is to get me psyched?

The only BG album ive got is the one you have pictured there, nightfall in middle earth, so i couldnt really say

It's hard for me to pick a favorite album. I like their earlier stuff for the aggressive songwriting and their later stuff for the vocal arrangements...although I was disappointed overall in ANATO (it has a few really good songs). Awesome live band. Tokyo Tales and the recent live DVD are great.

I only have Nightfall in Middle Earth and Tales From the Twilight World. And A Night at the Opera on MP3. I've heard Imaginations From the Other Side is their best, but I can't find it in stores anywhere around here.

Tales from the Twilight World is probably their best, Somewhere far beyond is also excellent; Imaginations and Nightfall are also very good.
As for songs there are no weak ones in these albums (with a very few exceptions)

np: Lost in the Twilight Hall - I think perfection is the word :notworthy

best live DVD ever made IMO. The live version of "And Then There Was Silence" is fucking fantastic. Valhalla is also amazing live. After the song the crowd starts going crazy and they start singing the chorus again and they keep it going for several minutes. Thomen even gets into it and starts the drum beat back up for the whole thing. You can also hear the Valhalla chants later after another song. The Bards Song is also great live (as always). The production of the DVD, the camera angels, and most importantly the sound/performance is second to none... it is mindblowing how good the DVD is. I downloaded a DVD audio ripper and make mp3s of the whole DVD and put them on my ipod... I just cant get enough of it.

My fave is Nightfall, followed closely by Imaginations from the other side.

Their latest really fell flat for me....
