Bluegrass

There's an album coming out by Chris Thile and Michael Daves playing traditional bluegrass songs. This is crazzzzzzzzzzzy.

The only thing I don't like about Thile is he starts doing this weird atonal shit that doesn't sound like music sometimes. Other than that weird stuff, he's a great musician.

Are you talking about the chopping? I'm confused, example plz.

I think every part of that rules. What part of that annoys you? Like is there a specific time on that video I could reference?

It's just drives me out of the room. I'm no musician, but it seems atonal, and not really following any scale. It's just weird, and I really don't have the knowledge to elaborate. I like his other stuff, but the stuff from Antifogmatic was particularly weird and didn't seem musical, just mostly wankery. Where it's like "hey, look what we can do" rather than focusing on good song-writing. I'm a Chris Thile fan and love all his other stuff, but Antifogmatic just seemed to be a lot of wankery presented in atonal weirdness.

New mandolin strings: GHS Silk & Bronze. So far I've noticed a much warmer tone and a louder one at that, as compared to the Martin & Co 80/20 Bronze I used before. The only thing is the gauge is a little thicker on these so my fingers are bit sore but I'm actually liking the overall feel quite a bit more. Next time around I'll give the classic D'Addario J74s a try! Thanks again Derick. :D Also, yeah you're right. The Wegen finally won.
