This is by FAR my favorite solo release from Bob. He may be getting up there in age, but he still sounds as smooth as silk.

Plus, in all honesty, it sounds like Allen/Lande III since Magnus K. wrote all the music. Hell, they even used the same crappy cover artist that did both Allen/Lande covers.

I'm looking forward to this one. Bob is a fantastic singer. He was great on both the recent Avantasia and Ayreon as well.

Excellent cd. Perhaps my favourite one I bought at PPIX. It's more like Allen/Lande IV though since The Codex preceded it.

I've been a fan of Catley's since the early Magnum days. His solo albums have been hot and cold for me (as recent Magmum discs as well), but now I'm very intrigued to hear this new one. I agree with Symphony, Emerald Sword and Comic Book Dude: When Empires Burn is a great album and probably set the bar as far as Bob's solo stuff is concerned.

Honestly, I've been unfamiliar with Bob Catley up to this point. This disc has received good reviews on other web sites, then Glenn gives it props. I finally got around to purchasing it and I've given it several thorough listens. With that said, if you like melodic hard rock, then this is a go! There are similarities to the Allen/Lande projects, which is a very good thing. I have to agree about the cover art though. It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it's corny for sure! The bottom line is, the music and vocals are great! :kickass:

Awesome disc. Have been a huge fan since Chase the Dragon days. That album together with Sacred Hour is on my top 10 of all time.
Latest Magnum effort "Princess..." is very good as well. Well worth checking out.
Am also a huge Mark Stanway fan. Most underrated keyboard player of all time.

Totally agree on this one. I was very disappointed with Catley's last solo album, but when I heard he was bringing in both Magnus Karlsson AND Dennis Ward I knew it was going to rock.

The only real exposure I've had to Bob Catley is from the Avantasia stuff. To me he was one of the highlights of the project. Almost all of my favorite tracks were the ones he is on. I always forget to look for stuff that he has done. I will keep an eye out for this release though.

Check out Magnum. With a new album coming out this year, I'm hoping they'll tour. Or maybe play a future ProgPower.

don't hold your breath on the U.S tour... Have been hoping for a U.S tour for years. I've seen Magnum six times but all in Europe. Great times all. If Glenn can bring them to PP I'll be in heaven.

Agreed. Always tasteful. I found Magnum late. My first album was 'On a Storyteller's Night'. Bought it because of the cover art. Listened to it and decided it wasn't metal enough for me, (I was uh, well... young at the time), and put it away thinking I would never listen to it again only to find myself, about a month later, humming a melody thinking that I would really like to listen hear whatever song had it. I had no idea what it was so I went looking through my collection and after eliminating what albums I knew it couldn't be I listened to the few possible prospects left. Turned out to be "How Far Jerusalem". After that I went into completist mode. ;)
