You probably don't have to *be* American, but I'm sure it would help. And let's face it, McCartney is in a league of his own when it comes to musical contribution. Maybe Lennon should be there too, except he wasn't available to accept the award.

How come KISS hardly ever get recognised with any awards? Not even in the rock & roll hall of fame yet, nothing like this.... I think being #1 in gold records in America, #2 in gold records in the world after The Beatles, 30+ year career, most loyal fanbase around and the amount of artists they've influenced surely warrants a spot in the hall of fame or an award like this. Nobody in the industry takes them seriously though, never did.

Are you nuts Wrathy? Kiss didnt influence Bon Jovi that much, if at all, ive read books and autobiographies on Bon Jovi and Kiss has never been mentioned outside of them having the same manager :)

Cobblers, Spawn, cobblers! Whether the bands admit to it or not, KISS influenced practically everyone in the 80s glam metal movement. That whole scene was just a watered down version of what KISS were doing ten years earlier (flashy guitars, long hair, over the top stage shows and catchy rock songs with big choruses).

Bon Jovi dressed glammy, but id say that had more to do with Motley Crue and every other band in LA looking absolutely identical and thats why they dressed that way, it had nothing to do with Kiss (directly) :)

Its the same with Black Sabbath, I think Ozzy even said he doesnt want them in the hall of fame "because the people that vote the albums in are tossers"

... and every other band in LA had big hair & flashy guitars & outrageous outfits because of KISS. Plus, Richie Sambora did audition for KISS remember. He got turned down though. And Bon Jovi's original audience was built & gained on their tour with KISS in 1984, and it all exploded from there.

Yeah, he auditioned for Kiss and said it was for the best he didnt get it as he wasnt really a fan :)

Kiss may have indirectly influenced Bon Jovis dress sense (in that all the glam bands dressed the same, which was derived from Kiss) but its pretty obvious they were not an influence on their songwriting or anything.

Its a complete fallacy to say Bon Jovi wouldnt exist without Kiss. They just would have dressed better had Kiss not been around.

I never said they were anyway.... and Bon Jovi dressed the best in the '80s compared to now anyway, thankyou very much! They don't look rock & roll without the big hair & cool clothes.

The point is, KISS are probably the most deserving rock band in America now of being awarded with these things and it's a crime that they get overlooked & not taken seriously. They are #1 for gold records for fucks sake!

 I knew you would say that about how they dressed :) :) :) :)

I dont think Kiss give two fucks about those awards anyway :)
