i was taking the piss, i've had it for ages but never listened to it, primarily because i heard them described as drone which i hate and so turned it off when the start of the first song apparently confirmed that

this is good though it's very much my sort of thing, so long as the japanese guy shuts up for a while anyway

hey nad, for more in the vein of amplifier worship, you should check out Akuma No Uta, just got a rerelease on southern lord so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

cause like, I can recommend boris stuff all day, but what you can actually get ahold of is a completely different matter

Rerelease? I thought Akuma was their most recent one, but considering how large their catalog is, it's easy to get confused...

the Southern Lord release is different from the original import, one of the tracks is longer ( i forget which off hand) , different album artwork, etc.

so while not necessarily a rerelease per say, because it's the first release of it domestically

and yes their catalog is a bit large, but most of it is easy to just outright ignore, being vinyl only, splits, etc, that not only are long out of print and were limited to very small numbers, but really not worth hearing imo for the casual fan

Yes, they have quite a few odd relases with just as odd release quantites. I purchased their Feedbacker DVD on the tour, and it said it was limited to something like 134 copies.

and also they do inane things like release a handful of different versions of their latest "mabuta no ura", all with different tracks and packaging for each, and the album isn't all that great tbh

but I have a feeling when it comes to a lot of people being a "boris fan", they're more of a "boris collector." They're definitely a band that caters to collectors.... and getting all those imports is hella $$$ too.

(I stick to waiting for domestic releases and the occasional limited edition vinyl if I get in on it in time)
