Hello all,

I am a beginner mixer who composed this song. I am only posting the first part of it because I am wanting advice on mixing/mastering to make it sound mastered and more in your face!

It is raw....drums are just DFH with a sneap kick triggered by reasamplomatic and bass is broomstick. Guitars are played by me....I know they are a bit sloppy but haven't had much time to practice.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

You need to start off mixing the drums.

Start by eq'ing the kit giving them their own frequencies, then use some compression to bring them out in the mix.

Be good to hear the rest of the song, i like it!!

okay, I know my drums pretty much only have the kick going for it, but that's because I only have one midi track with one bass drum sample. DFH doesn't allow for much customization and when I use readrum to load samples, I get clipping with my chinas, symbols, and snare. But then again I only have 1-2 limited samples of each.

How do the guitars and bass sit? Should I separate their EQ more?

Just use the bass guitar for bass frequencies, and guitars for the mids.

In your mix id maybe give your bass more low end.
If you can give the kick abit of low end to.

Alright, I spent some time reading up on this great forum and I think my mix is a bit better. But I'm still not happy with the snare, bass guitar, and overall mix. Hoping to make it more in your face and punchy. Snare needs more crack and hi end, I think

Any feedback/advice?

PS. I know it doesn't sound like BOO or VOM, but I enjoy both bands. What genre of metal do you think this track leans towards?
