Born Of Osiris....

I know a couple guys in BOO, and that album was recorded by michael caine from The Faceless. I know that the drums were programmed and that the guitars are Line 6. No clue on the settings. He also recorded "Veil of Maya" which are some close friends of mine from Chicago. Michael Caine has a locked deal on most recordings that come from Sumerian Records, because the labels owner "Ash" is close friends with Michael Caine.

:p you're thinking of Michael Keene, Michael Caine is the guy from the Italian job

I like what he's done with Veil of Maya, B.o_O and The Faceless, they all have a definite signature sound to them. I'm interested to hear what the next faceless album (comes out in november) will sound like, because his productions seem to have got better progressively i.e The Faceless < B.o_O < Veil, in my opinion at least.

If THIS is the case, can ANYONE in this forum figure out what samples/settings were used on anything?

Cheers :kickass:

Hmm, makes sense to hear that FellSilent recently signed with Sumerian.

:OMG:

programmed drums? i dont get it. cymbals or just the drums? line 6? double-you-tee-eff is this world coming to? veil of maya too? wow i feel like one of those 13 year old kids who listens to the shit and thinks that thats EXACTLY how they played it. i guess i can stop loosing sleep trying to play that shuffled beatdown from "bow down". . .

fuckin bow down :worship: sorry had to do that

not for nothin but when i saw live vidz of "boo" on youtube, they held up to the recording but i guess i wont know for sure until i see them live (in a few months :kickass: )

I definitely haven't made any efforts to keep up with this supposed forward progression in quality of Michael Keene's recordings, but at this point I still haven't heard anything of his that I particularly like the sound of... Like, he manages to keep it from sounding amateur, but to my ears it sounds far from professional. It's this kind of purgatory of recording quality.

Born of Osiris are fucking tight as hell live, they're awesome. I would imagine that the "programmed drums" thing was probably mostly to do with either the producers ability/willingness to record live drums or possibly time restrictions in the studio.
