Born Of Osiris....

I don't know if it's the newest or not, but I just listened to some of BoO's A Higher Place and the cymbals going from complete left pan to complete right pan is driving me crazy.

I wouldnt be surprised if theyre fake overheads too (the drum hits obviously are) the panning on them is crazy and the hits are far too consistent

the whole cd has a funny eq to it, not bassy at all and far too harsh in the upper mids

Not only is A Higher Place a really badly mixed album, it's just a really bad album full stop. Shame, the new reign owns

yeah, this was driving me crazy the other night

i was comparing it to my mixes and going WTF

almost felt like i had been missing out on some treble or some shit

glad to know i wasnt

Yeah... DI's Day of Mourning sounds awesome & completely pro, and BOO's A Higher Place, not so much...

I like a lot of the Sumerian bands, but I'd really like to see them all with better production...

I know the drummer's brother but I never met or seen BOO. I did however hear that their demo sounded much better than the debut and that the drummer did everything on it.
I honestly don't blame all these bands who are programming their stuff lately. You can't really blame them if perfection is expected. It's a hell of a lot easier to quantize a midi performance or to program drums than to edit real drums. Not to mention that in that kind of music you don't need dynamics anyway.

Personally I hated the debut album at first. The kick is so damn annoyingly loud, but it's grown on me over time and I listen to it once in a while. I don't really care for their new effort however. It just seems less exciting to me (rhythmically).

If the Rosecreance demo was what you're talking about, then it definitely doesn't sound better than The New Reign...

Yeah, it's hilarious, in a really bad way hahaha.
I love the new reign though, so groovy and punchy in a really unconventional way. it may not be all "pro" but it's got a really unique sound

Rosecrance?

i honestly thought i'd got 50 cent's EP, before eminem found him.. then the intro track finished.

it's so cringe-worthy it's actually funny, it has to be played loud every time i accidentally let the new reign finish.

"DUDE WTF IS DIS SHIT"

me: "born of osiris, motherfucker"

usual response is "no".. haha.

yea, TNR does sound like programmed drums, but i figured it was just ultra quantised edits.. hmm.

not even heard a higher place yet..!
